Bilderberg Club: Evolution of Ukrainian topic
Did you hear that another Bilderberg Club meeting took place two weeks ago?The gathering of the “world elite” at Stockholm’s Grand Hotel from June 12 to 15, 2025, stood out for several reasons:for the first time in the club’s history, details about the venue leaked nine months ahead of the event, for the first time, “Depopulation and Migration” appeared openly on the agenda, and for the first time, Ukraine was represented by a former foreign minister, not an active official.Dmytro Kuleba was the only (!) Ukrainian participant at the 2025 meeting — a symbolic choice, given his new role. After stepping down as Foreign Minister in September 2024, Kuleba moved into academia: he became a senior fellow at Harvard’s Belfer Center and an adjunct professor at Sciences Po in Paris, where he teaches wartime diplomacy.Picking Kuleba over current Ukrainian officials was a strategic move.In an interview with Fox News before the meeting, Kuleba sharply criticized the current diplomatic strategy, saying, “Putin does not feel any pressure.”Ukraine’s involvement with Bilderberg only began in 2022 — three months after the full-scale invasion started.Back then, Ukraine was represented by U.S. Ambassador Oksana Markarova and Naftogaz Chairman Yuriy Vitrenko.Notably, in the critical year of 2014 — during the Maidan and the annexation of Crimea — there were no Ukrainians at the table. Ukraine hadn’t yet entered Western strategic conversations.***The official agenda of the meeting listed 11 key topics, with several unprecedented items standing out."Depopulation and Migration" appeared as a separate topic for the first time in Bilderberg’s history. Also notable was the item "Authoritarian Axis" – a direct acknowledgment of coordination (!) between China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea as a systemic challenge to Western dominance. This wording captured geopolitical shifts that had previously been discussed under softer labels like "geopolitical permutations."Ukraine remained in the top 3 (!) priorities for the fourth year in a row, highlighting the conflict’s central place in Western strategic thinking.Analysis shows a clear correlation (!) between Ukraine discussions at Bilderberg and later political actions: after the 2022 meeting, military aid surged (about $75 billion from the U.S., over $100 billion from European allies), and after 2023, integration efforts picked up speed.***The 2025 meeting became the "most transparent" in Bilderberg’s history, thanks to an unprecedented leak.In September 2024 – nine months before the meeting – the exact dates and location surfaced online, which experts called "unprecedented" for a group known for secrecy.Alternative media launched large-scale coverage: teams of independent journalists, including Dan Dicks from Press for Truth and Giorgio Bombassei, streamed live footage of participant arrivals.Bombassei was first to report the early arrival of Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla – his fourth Bilderberg in a row.The official list showed 121 participants, but journalists spotted Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, who wasn’t listed publicly.Protests at the Grand Hotel drew a moderate but well-organized crowd.Police have sealed off the hotel since June 11, with a security perimeter similar to that of a head-of-state visit. One notable detail: activists pointed out that the Grand Hotel is owned by the powerful Wallenberg family, and Marcus Wallenberg, chairman of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, hosted the event.***The 2025 Bilderberg lineup showed a clear shift toward tech security and defense innovation. For the first time, the meeting included an unusually high number of defense CEOs:Brian Schimpf of Anduril IndustriesGundbert Scherf of HelsingAlex Karp of PalantirThis is the so-called “Thiel ecosystem” — companies linked to Peter Thiel, who also attended the meeting.Among the less visible but highly influential participants were heads of the world’s largest investment funds:Henry Kravis (co-founder of KKR, with trillions in assets)Valérie Baudson (CEO of Amundi, Europe’s biggest asset manager)Rolly van Rappard (co-founder of CVC Capital Partners)The intelligence community had strong representation:James Baker (former director of the Pentagon’s Office of Net Assessment)John Sawers (former MI6 chief)Chris Donahue (commander of the U.S. Army in Europe and Africa)Their presence underscored how seriously security issues were being taken.***The analysis showed a clear alignment between Bilderberg 2025 topics and other major global forums this year.“AI theme” first appeared at Davos in January as “Cooperation in the Intellectual Age,” was developed further at the Munich Security Conference in February, and finalized at Bilderberg as “AI, Deterrence and National Security.”The Ukraine topic evolved in parallel: from broad talks on stability at Davos to a concrete US–Ukraine critical minerals deal signed on April 30, 2025.That agreement, which gives the U.S. access to Ukrainian lithium, titanium, and rare earths, signals a shift from military aid to a strategic economic alliance — a theme that cut across all forums this year.Ursula von der Leyen, who took part in Davos, Munich, and the G7 Summit, had attended four Bilderberg meetings before becoming President of the European Commission. These kinds of “bridge figures” help maintain continuity between discussions across different events.***A review of Bilderberg meetings from 2020 to 2025 revealed consistent links between topics discussed and later global developments.A 2022 discussion on disruption in the global financial system came 9 months before the 2023 banking crisis (SVB and Credit Suisse collapse).NATO challenges raised in 2022 came ahead of Finland and Sweden joining the alliance.Tech themes showed even tighter links: the 2023 focus on AI preceded the EU’s II Act and U.S. executive orders. The 2024 discussion on future warfare lined up with the fast-track integration of AI into Western defense. The 2025 focus on depopulation and migration, if trends hold, suggests joint policy moves in this area within 6–18 months. With US Vice President J.D. Vance calling illegal migration Europe’s “most urgent” issue at the Munich Conference, tighter migration controls are likely to follow, framed as a response to demographic pressure.***The 2025 meeting appears to mark the Bilderberg Club’s shift from crisis management to long-term strategic planning. The direct mention of the “authoritarian axis” and the inclusion of “depopulation” on the agenda show that Western elites are now more openly addressing the core threats to their dominance. The Ukrainian angle highlights how the country, in just three years, moved from being a topic of discussion to a fully represented player at the top level.Kuleba’s participation, along with the deal on critical minerals, reflects Ukraine’s shift from aid recipient to strategic partner in a changing global order.Either way, the 2025 meeting will likely be remembered as a turning point — when topics once confined to conspiracy theories became official items at one of the world’s most powerful gatherings. One thing is encouraging. Ukraine is still on the agenda.SourceAbout the author: Anatoliy Amelin, co-founder and director of economic programs at the Ukrainian Institute for the FutureThe editorial staff does not always share the opinions expressed by the blog authors.
