The Berdychiv hromada has received the painful news of the death of a Ukrainian defender, professional military colonel Yurii Yula, as a result of a missile attack by the enemy.

Details According to Berdychiv District Military Administration, Yula sustained fatal injuries as a result of a Russian missile attack on the city of Sumy on 13 April.
Berdychiv City Council and the district administration expressed condolences to Yulas family, friends and brothersinarms.

For reference Yurii Yula was born on 18 August 1982 in the village of Volevachi in Chernihiv Oblast.
He began his military career at the age of 14, when he entered Chernihiv Military Lyceum with enhanced physical training.
In 2005, he graduated from Sumy State University of Missile Forces and immediately joined the 26th Artillery Brigade.
During his 11 years of service, he was promoted from platoon commander to chief of staff.
In 20142018, Yula led a division of the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade.
After that, he returned to the 26th Brigade as deputy commander.
In 2023, he was appointed commander of the 27th Rocket Artillery Brigade.
Yurii Yula was awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi, II and III class, for his courage, professionalism and loyalty to the oath.
Background Ukraines Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that on 13 April the Russians launched two strikes within a two and twoandahalfminute interval at 1015 and 1017.
The attack targeted the city centre and was reportedly carried out with an IskanderM missile with a highexplosive fragmentation warhead.
The missile travels at a speed of over two kilometres per second.
It was reported that 34 people had been killed in the Russian attack, including two children, aged 17 and 12.
A total of 119 people were injured and around 40 were taken to hospital, including 11 in a critical condition.
As a result of the Russian missile attack on Sumy on 13 April, 14 police officers were injured, and there were also fatalities and casualties among members of other services who were responding to the aftermath of the attack.
