The Port of Odesa continues to operate using generators following Russia's attack on energy facilities in Odesa Oblast.

Details: "The power supply situation is difficult. Ports other than the Port of Odesa are beginning to request electricity," a representative of Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), Ukraine's state-run railway operator, said during a meeting on improving the rail transport of agricultural cargo.

"Meanwhile, there is no information on when power will be restored to the Port of Odesa or what limits may be applied. All stevedoring companies at the port are operating on generators," he added.

Valerii Tkachov, Deputy Head of the Commercial Department of Ukrzaliznytsia, said that the delivery of grain trains to ports had been kept to a minimum during the blackout, at around five to seven trains per day.

He also noted that on Sunday 14 December the ports had operated for only five hours in total throughout the day.

At present, over 11,000 rail wagons loaded with grain are heading towards the ports of Greater Odesa.
