Russia attacked Ukraine with 69 drones on the night of 16-17 December. Ukrainian air defences have shot down 37 of them, while 29 drones have hit 12 locations.

Details : The Russians launched Shahed and Gerbera loitering munitions and attack drones of other types from the Russian cities of Kursk, Oryol, Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Millerovo, as well as Hvardiiske in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Air Force said around 40 of the drones were Shahed loitering munitions.

Early reports indicate that as of 09:00, Ukraine's air defence forces had shot down or jammed 37 Russian UAVs in Ukraine's north, south and east.

Strikes by 29 UAVs were recorded at 12 locations.

The aerial attack is being repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups from the Ukrainian defence forces.

The attack is still ongoing, as several Russian drones remain in Ukrainian airspace.
