Marko Petkovic, the head of the Swedish Navy's operational staff, stated this, as quoted by SVT Nyheter."The presence of the Russian fleet has become more permanent and visible in most of the Baltic Sea," Petkovic said.As noted, the Russian fleet is present at various important points in the Baltic Sea, the Gulf of Finland, and in the west, and appears to be engaged in supporting Russia's 'shadow fleet.'Daniel Stenling, deputy operational chief of the Border Guard, noted that the Russian fleet is increasingly appearing at strategic positions in the open sea.According to SVT's military sources, the Russian military operation consists of a "permanent presence" in several specific zones adjacent to shipping routes. In addition, the Swedish Navy confirms information about people in uniform and armed on board vessels of Russia's 'shadow fleet.'Back in the summer, Danish investigative media outlet Danwatch reported that "additional crew members" had been spotted on vessels—presumably Russians wearing military uniforms and, among other things, very actively photographing strategic objects that the ships pass by. This was mentioned in an internal letter from DanPilot, a Danish state enterprise that provides pilotage services.Marko Petkovic stated that Sweden has also received information and observed that people in uniform are present on board some 'shadow vessels.' It is assumed that they are employees of private security companies.
