A man noticed parts of an object resembling a drone in a forest near the village of Żelizna in Poland's Lublin Voivodeship at around 13:00 on 14 December.

Details: Relevant services are working at the scene where the object was found. It is likely to be one of the unmanned aerial vehicles that violated Polish airspace on the night of 9-10 September.

The police note that the area is being guarded by officers from the district police headquarters in Radzyń Podlaski.

The police added, "We have notified the relevant services, particularly the military police in Biała Podlaska and the district prosecutor's office in Radzyń Podlaski."

Background:

• On the night of 9-10 September, Russian drones intruded into the airspace of Poland, by extension, NATO. It was initially reported that there were 19 unmanned aerial vehicles and later 21.
• Some of the Russian drones were shot down by the Polish military with the help of NATO allies. In the following weeks, drone debris was found in several voivodeships, most of them in Lublin Voivodeship.
• On 10 September, Poland asked NATO to invoke Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty. Consultations were held the same day within this format.
• On 18 September, Ukraine and Poland agreed to set up a joint unmanned aerial systems task force, comprising representatives from the Ukrainian and Polish armed forces.
• Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that none of the drones that had fallen on Polish territory were equipped with warheads. However, Lieutenant General Maciej Klisz noted that the threat had been more serious than initially assessed.
