Zelenskyy surprised by fuss over President's Office chief appointment: "Not a priority"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has emphasised that he is currently focused on negotiations to end the war with Russia and does not consider the appointment of the head of the President's Office a priority at this time.

Quote: "Today I am focused on developing a peace agreement and working primarily with the Americans. I understand that some in society have questions about the head of the Office. But I am surprised that this issue has become one of the most pressing questions. Because I believe the most important issues are all those related to ending the war and guaranteeing security."
Details: Zelenskyy noted that he has held several consultations and mentioned that there are "some organisational details".
"Who and from which institution can be appointed, and how the structure will then operate. If we talk about candidates currently holding positions in the Cabinet of Ministers [Ukrainian government], there are still questions about how to appoint ministers for the vacant positions – the minister of energy and the minister of justice," the president explained.
He said that parliamentarians, together with the government, need to propose how to fill these vacancies more quickly. Zelenskyy stressed that the negotiations to end the war take priority over the personnel matters.
Quote: "And if, for example, I now take someone from the current government – they are professionals and could fit the position of head of the Office – I am concerned that their replacement would take weeks to find, just like for the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Justice. I do not want to destabilise the Cabinet of Ministers.
Therefore, the priority is ending the war and my international work, primarily with the United States of America, as well as work with the Coalition of the Willing. And there are many other issues I am working on, and one of these issues is appointing the head of the Office, and this is definitely not a priority."
