Details: The foreign minister noted that in recent days a further five countries have joined the PURL initiative, and eight additional contributions have been made by states already participating.
"For the first time, the circle of participants in this programme – which, among other things, covers the lion's share of our needs in strengthening air defence – has expanded to include countries outside the Alliance, thanks to the accession of Australia and New Zealand," Sybiha said.
The NATO foreign ministers' meeting in Brussels resulted in agreements to supply weapons under the PURL programme worth roughly US$1 billion.
"As of today, 21 countries are participating in PURL, with total commitments amounting to US$4.18 billion. We are very grateful to each of them," Sybiha noted.
Background: Poland, alongside Germany and Norway, will provide US$100 million for Patriot interceptor missiles.
