Political scientist Oleksii Koshel expressed this opinion on Espreso TV."Putin is now maximally raising the stakes, he is in a certain euphoria, he sees that he is succeeding in carrying out many successful subversive campaigns in Europe. In Europe there are a number of pro-Russian parties which, as investigations indicate, are financed by Russian money. Europe is experiencing great informational and propaganda pressure from Russia on electoral processes, on the Brexit campaign, which weakened Europe with Great Britain's exit from the community, on supporting various pro-Russian movements. Therefore, Putin is in a certain euphoria," commented Oleksii Koshel.According to him, Putin sees that Europe is in a weak state, and he manipulates this. This is because Europe is currently weak in terms of security. After the end of World War II, the United States developed a policy to contain the Soviet Union, and from that time until recently, the United States took responsibility for Europe's security."But now this mechanism has cracked significantly, so European leaders publicly ask the American president: 'Are the U.S. ready to adhere to the guarantees under Article 5 of NATO?' We see Trump's answer: 'Those who pay properly for their security, perhaps we will adhere to it, and for some - we will not.' That is, the international instruments that were built since World War II are now cracking. And therefore, it is quite natural that due to this conditional weakness of Europe, Putin is in a certain euphoria," the political scientist noted. In his opinion, the arming of Europe is the best signal for Putin in response to Russia's readiness to continue the war, to wage war for a long time, and to wage wars against NATO countries."The world can no longer be comfortable. And the fact that Poland spent a one-time payment of $10 billion on 100 Apache (American attack helicopters - ed.) is the correct approach. But other countries do not understand and do not foresee this. That is, for Europe, the world will not become comfortable for decades. The army, armed forces, and military technologies will become a priority. We have already entered an arms race, and this is what I am calling an optimistic scenario," Koshel summarized.
