Details: Macron, commenting on Russia's war against Ukraine, said it is necessary to do everything possible to find compromises while preserving international law and ensuring long-term stability.
"I hope that China will join our call and our efforts to reach at least a ceasefire in the form of a moratorium on strikes on critical infrastructure as soon as possible," the French president said.
He added that this is crucial for the coming winter, as civilian infrastructure, including energy facilities, remains under Russian fire.
Background:
- Macron also urged his Chinese counterpart to make efforts to stop the war in Ukraine.
- The three-day visit by Macron follows Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's trip to Paris earlier this week.
- It was also recently reported that German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul will visit China in early December after his previous trip was cancelled.
