Trump's negotiators to meet Ukrainian delegation head in Miami to discuss "peace plan"

The meeting between Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council and the head of the Ukrainian delegation, and US President Donald Trump's negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, is scheduled for 4 December in Miami, Florida.
Source: Associated Press, citing a senior official in Trump's administration; Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, as reported by public broadcaster Suspilne
Details: According to the Associated Press source, the parties intend to continue discussing the details of the "peace plan" aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. The official did not provide further details of the agenda, citing a lack of authority to comment publicly on the matter.
Updated: Stefanishyna confirmed the planned meeting between Umierov and Witkoff.
Quote from Stefanishyna: "Rustem Umierov, the head of the delegation whose only job is to negotiate with American and European allies, will land in the United States tomorrow [4 November] to have another meeting with the delegation."
Details: Stefanishyna said that Ukraine is expecting a follow-up meeting based on the results of Witkoff and Kushner's visit to Moscow. She noted that there is "not too much progress" at this stage of the talks, but the process is ongoing.
Stefanishyna also emphasised the continued bipartisan support for Ukraine in the US Congress. She believes American lawmakers may soon consider bills to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism and to introduce secondary sanctions against countries that continue to buy Russian energy resources.
Background:
- Earlier, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha confirmed to journalists in Brussels that the Ukrainian delegation had received an invitation to the United States. He also noted that Kyiv had not yet received detailed information about the content of the US-Russia talks that took place on Monday 1 December in the Kremlin, stressing that there were understandable reasons for this.
- Media had previously reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy might meet Witkoff and Kushner in Europe on Wednesday 3 December, but those plans have been cancelled.
- Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said after talks with representatives of Trump's team that no compromise version of a plan to end the war in Ukraine has been found so far.
- Meanwhile, intelligence available to NATO has not indicated that Putin is ready for a peace agreement. The Alliance is convinced that the Kremlin leader's statements about Russia being prepared to wage war against European countries are merely bluff.
