The meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin, US president's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner lasted nearly five hours.

Details : Witkoff arrived at the US Embassy in Moscow after talks in the Kremlin.

The meeting focused on Trump's peace plan. Also present on the Russian side were Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev and his aide Yuri Ushakov.

Dmitriev described the meeting between Witkoff, Kushner and Putin as productive.

Background:

• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the US delegation, consisting of Witkoff and Kushner, will convey signals to Ukraine immediately after their meeting with Putin in the Kremlin.
• Zelenskyy also said that the updated version of the peace plan Ukraine is discussing with the United States now contains 20 points instead of 28 in the initial draft.
• On Monday 1 December, Zelenskyy held a phone call with Witkoff and Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council and the head of the Ukrainian delegation. French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer joined this conversation.
