Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has reportedly set to fly to Moscow on 28 November for a meeting with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
Source: Investigative journalist Szabolcs Panyi on Facebook, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Panyi wrote that, according to a source familiar with the trip, Orbán will meet Putin in Moscow on 28 November.
There has not yet been any official confirmation of the meeting.
Background:
- In October 2023, Orbán met Putin in China, where he called the war against Ukraine a "special operation" [as the war against Ukraine is called in Russia – ed.].
- In early November, Orbán met Donald Trump and urged him to hold a summit with Putin in Budapest. The US president said at the time that he did not currently see any reason to meet the Kremlin leader.
- After the media published the US 28-point "peace plan" containing provisions favourable to the Kremlin, Orbán called on the EU to accept it.
