Details: Zelenskyy said that during the call he shared with Merz the latest details of the work underway to end the war.
"We are coordinating to ensure that all our partners are informed," he noted.
Zelenskyy also stressed that on 24 November the Ukrainian team returned from Geneva and provided a full briefing and an updated framework document. He added that communication with the US side is continuing.
During the call, the Ukrainian president and Merz discussed developments on the ground and coordinated their next steps. They also touched upon the agenda of the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which Germany will co-chair.
Background:
- During the weekend negotiations in Geneva, the United States and Ukraine adjusted the Trump team's original 28-point proposal and developed a new 19-point document; the most politically sensitive issues were left for the two presidents to decide.
- On 25 November, talks between the US and Russian sides are expected to continue in Abu Dhabi.
- Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has signalled that Russia will not agree to the updated US "peace plan" proposal if it takes significantly less account of Russia's demands than the first version.
