Details: The meeting follows the development of a new 19-point peace agreement by the United States and Ukraine during talks in Geneva.
According to his spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Tolbert, Secretary Driscoll arrived in Abu Dhabi on Monday and held negotiations with Russian officials throughout Tuesday.
Quote from Tolbert: "Secretary Driscoll and team have been in discussions with the Russian delegation to achieve a lasting peace in Ukraine. The talks are going well and we remain optimistic. Secretary Driscoll is closely synchronised with the White House and the US interagency as these talks progress."
Details: According to one source, the Ukrainian delegation, led by Defence Intelligence of Ukraine head Kyrylo Budanov, is also in Abu Dhabi and is holding talks with both the American and Russian teams.
Defence Intelligence of Ukraine declined to comment when contacted by European Pravda.
Meanwhile, a source cited by Axios claims that the heads of military intelligence of Ukraine and Russia were apparently planning to meet in Abu Dhabi on a different matter.
Background:
- Serhii Kyslytsia, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, explained how the new peace agreement is being protected from leaks.
- Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov indicated that Moscow would not accept the updated US "peace plan" proposal if it reflects Russia's demands substantially less than the original version.
