Death toll from Russian strike on Ternopil rises to 26, 18 children in hospital

The number of people killed in the Russian missile strike on Ternopil has risen to 26. The police have said that emergency services will continue working round the clock at the impact sites.

Details: As of 20:30, it was confirmed that 26 people had been killed, including 3 children. A total of 93 people were injured, 18 of them children, who are being treated in hospital.
Emergency and rescue teams are working around the clock at the sites destroyed in the morning attack. Work will not stop overnight, with all units continuing to clear the rubble and provide assistance to those injured.
Quote from Klymenko: "There is a lot of work to be done. The priority now is to find everyone who may be trapped under the rubble. As of this evening, 26 people are reported to be missing in the destroyed building. Three of them are children. We are continuing to search for them."
More details: Police said it will maintain public order and act to prevent any looting. Law enforcement officers are urging residents of the oblast centre to rely solely on official information. People are asked to call the emergency line 102 or speak directly to police officers working at the scene to obtain reliable information.
Background:
- On the night of 18-19 November, Russia struck an industrial facility and two residential buildings in the Soniashnyi neighbourhood. The attack caused extensive destruction and civilian casualties.
- The Ukrainian Air Force has confirmed that the apartment buildings in Ternopil were struck by Russian Kh-101 missiles. The missiles were launched by strategic bombers – six Tu-95MS aircraft based at Olenya airfield and four Tu-160MS aircraft based at Engels and Ukrainka airfields in Russia. The launch areas were in Russia's Vologda and Astrakhan oblasts.
- As of 16:00, the wreckage of a Kh-101 cruise missile that struck a nine-storey building on 19 November had been found and identified. The missile was manufactured in the fourth quarter of 2025.
