Ukraine and Greece agree on prompt gas supplies from January – Zelenskyy

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on Sunday 16 November that Ukraine has reached an agreement with Greece on the rapid supply of gas to compensate for its shortage caused by Russian attacks.

Details: Zelenskyy said at the press conference that an "extremely important agreement" has been reached with Greece regarding the supply of gas to Ukraine, noting that Kyiv needs to import gas due to Russian attacks on its energy infrastructure.
"Today's agreements with Greece form an important part of the broader energy package prepared for this winter to ensure gas supplies to Ukraine," the Ukrainian leader said.
He added that gas supplies from Greece will begin as early as January 2026.
Zelenskyy also said Ukraine and Greece have reached long-term agreements on the supply of liquefied natural gas from the United States.
Mitsotakis, in turn, reported that the gas supplies will take place via an "important energy artery" that connects the Greek city of Alexandroupolis with Odesa in Ukraine's south.
"Thus, Ukraine gains access to reliable sources of energy, and Greece becomes a hub for supplying American liquefied gas to Central and Eastern Europe," Mitsotakis said.
