Reuters reported the information.Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov addressed recent comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the war's potential end. Peskov reiterated Russia's stance that the 'conflict' could cease once its objectives are met, ideally through political and diplomatic channels. "But there is currently a pause, the situation is stalled. It is stalled not through our fault," Peskov stated, attributing the stagnation to Ukraine. However, Ukraine and its European partners dispute Moscow's claims of hindering peace initiatives. Direct talks between Russia and Ukraine have not occurred since July 23.Efforts by Trump to facilitate a meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have been met with a condition from the Kremlin that such a summit must take place in Moscow, a proposal Zelenskyy has rejected. Zelenskyy has consistently expressed skepticism about Putin's sincerity in pursuing peace. Peskov, in turn, asserted that Kyiv was unwilling to continue discussions."They are being egged on in every way by the Europeans, who believe that Ukraine can win the war and secure its interests by military means," Peskov remarked, dismissing this belief as a "deep delusion" given the current battlefield situation. As the war nears its fourth year, Russia maintains control over approximately 19% of Ukrainian territory and is actively pushing to capture the cities of Pokrovsk and Kupiansk.
