Matthew Bryza, diplomat, former advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State, and former Director for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. National Security Council, stated this on Espreso TV."Putin has completely rebuilt the Russian economy, turning it into a military one. Apart from oil and gas exports, the main part of Russian industry now works for military needs. Russia's banking system is in a difficult position, as it is forced to provide loans to defense enterprises at rates below market levels. This significantly weakens the financial sector and creates serious risks for its stability," explained Bryza. The diplomat emphasized that the Russian-Ukrainian war will end only when Russia runs out of money. He is convinced that the Russian economy is very vulnerable due to its conversion to military [production]. "If Putin suddenly stopped the war, all the enterprises and factories that reprofiled for military production would be left without work, which would inevitably cause a large-scale economic crisis. Therefore, it is difficult to talk about any economic victory for Putin. As I have already noted, this war will most likely end when he simply runs out of financial resources to continue it," he explained.
