Quote: "The war in Ukraine is our teacher."
Details: Breuer added that Russia miscalculated in its expectations of a quick victory but emphasised that it is essential to "prevent Russia from making such a miscalculation again".
"Russia must never believe that it can win a war against NATO – not even against a single NATO member state," Breuer declared.
He added that this would be true in 2029, "when what has already been started will take effect".
"And it will be true in 2039, when we restructure our armed forces and integrate and effectively deploy our forces and assets," Breuer said.
Background :
- Earlier, a German general said that Russia could launch a limited attack on NATO territory at any time, though the decision would depend on the stance of Western allies.
- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov recently offered "security guarantees" to EU and NATO countries from Moscow.
