The initiative was reported by radio station RMF FM, according to European Pravda. The European Commission is reportedly expected to present the document outlining the “military Schengen” plan on November 19.According to Brussels officials involved in the project, the proposal will harmonize rules and procedures across EU member states and establish a network of military logistics corridors using roads, airports, and seaports. The goal is to guarantee efficient transport of troops and equipment across Europe in case of war."Currently, European bridges, roads, and railways are not adapted for the rapid movement of tanks, soldiers, and military cargo. When transporting from the west to the eastern flank, tanks can get stuck in tunnels, in complex bureaucracy, and bridges cannot withstand the passage of these vehicles," explained Dariusz Jonski, a member of the European Parliament's Defense Committee. The “military Schengen” project is being prepared in close cooperation with NATO. Military officials highlight the main issues that must be resolved to allow NATO forces to move freely across the continent without delays caused by differing national regulations. At present, military transports can wait several days for clearance to cross borders. The European Commission is also reportedly considering introducing a “dual-purpose mobile solidarity fleet,” which would include specialized railcars and locomotives available for a shared military transport pool.
