Source: Delfi, a Baltic states news website, as reported by European Pravda
Quote from Vilnius airport representative Tadas Vasiliauskas: "Current data indicates that the temporary closure of the airport affected two flights... The impact on flights was minimal."
Details: It is noted that the airport had suspended operations from 09:50 to 10:18 local time.
Background:
- On the evening of 30 October, Vilnius airport suspended operations due to the approach of balloons.
- Lithuanian leaders described the intrusion of such balloons into Lithuania as a hybrid attack by Minsk.
- As a result, Lithuania has closed its border with Belarus for a month to virtually everyone. The only exceptions are diplomats, Russians transiting to Kaliningrad Oblast and EU citizens returning to Lithuania from a neighbouring country.
- Lithuanian airports and the country's state airport operator are seeking to take legal action for damage caused by the balloons.
