The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported the information on its Telegram channel.“One of the members of an organized group that embezzled nearly UAH 100 million from JSC NAEK Energoatom has been extradited to Ukraine. These funds were intended for the construction of a centralized nuclear fuel storage facility in the Chernobyl zone,” NABU stated.According to the investigation, the suspect — who headed a private construction company — acted in collusion with Energoatom employees to supply radiation control system equipment at prices three times higher than market value. The difference, investigators allege, was appropriated by members of the group.NABU noted that the defendant was declared wanted in November 2023, and with assistance from German authorities, was detained in April 2025.“The detainee was handed over to employees of the National Bureau at the Krakivets–Korchova international road border crossing in Lviv region,” the statement said.Note: Under Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and confirmed by a court verdict. In October 2023, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office announced that five individuals were suspected of causing losses of almost UAH 100 million to Energoatom.
