Details: During the operation in the city of Kstovo, Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Ukrainian forces used over five dozen Ukrainian-made drones, including Bober (Beaver) and FP-1 types.
The source said that the attack took place while a rectification column, responsible for primary oil processing and already damaged in earlier strikes, was under repair.
Information about the strike also appeared in a number of Russian Telegram channels. Videos posted by Russian users show a bright glow over the refinery and explosions followed by a fire at the facility.
Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez is one of Russia's leading refineries, supplying in particular Moscow Oblast, which accounts for about 30% of the country's petrol consumption. Its nominal crude processing capacity is about 17 million tonnes per year.
The plant produces over 50 types of products: petrol, aviation and diesel fuel, as well as bitumen, paraffin and others.
The source in DIU added that the refinery's output is actively used by Russian forces and by Russia's defence industry.
