Berlin airport suspends operations due to unidentified drone

Flights at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) have been suspended for almost two hours on the evening of 31 October after a drone was detected nearby.

Details : It was reported that many flights had been diverted to other airports. "Safety comes first," an airport spokesperson said regarding the incident.
Flights were suspended from 20:08 to 21:58 local time. After that, security services lifted the drone alert. "We believe the danger has now passed," the airport spokesperson said after flights resumed. The police also deployed a helicopter.
Background :
- At the beginning of October, drones of unknown origin disrupted flight operations at Germany's second-largest airport, Munich.
- The number of incidents caused by such drones is increasing. A total of 144 disruptions caused by drones were recorded by the end of August 2025 alone. There were 113 incidents across the country during the same period last year and there were only 99 in 2023.
