Drones attack Russia: airports in several cities closed

Airports in five Russian cities have been closed following reports of a drone attack on the night of 31 October-1 November. The Russian Defence Ministry has claimed that 98 drones were downed.

Details : Rosaviatsiya, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, said that temporary flight restrictions had been introduced at airports in Penza, Samara and Saratov, allegedly to ensure flight safety.
Temporary restrictions were also imposed at airports in Kaluga and Tambov due to the risk of drone attacks.
Russian military officials reported that 38 drones had been downed on the evening of 31 October, with 34 UAVs being destroyed over Belgorod Oblast and 2 over Voronezh Oblast as well as 2 over temporarily occupied Crimea.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin claimed that Russian air defences had downed six drones.
Meanwhile, authorities in the city of Zhukovsky in Moscow Oblast reported that power outages affecting part of the city had occurred, supposedly caused by the automatic shutdown of 10 kV electrical equipment.
Updated . Later, the Russian Defence Ministry stated that air defence systems had downed 98 drones in nine oblasts as well as drones allegedly heading towards Moscow.
