Defense Express reported the information.Czechoslovak Group (CSG), a leading European artillery ammunition manufacturer, officially announced the launch of licensed production of 155mm and 105mm artillery shells in Ukraine through its partnership with Ukrainian Armor. The initiative represents a significant step toward strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and diversifying its ammunition supply chains amid ongoing conflict with Russia.Under the agreement, CSG has transferred licenses and critical technology to Ukrainian Armor, which already possessed the necessary manufacturing expertise to begin production relatively quickly. The Ukrainian facility now handles the complete production cycle, including shell casing manufacturing, explosive filling, and final assembly. Currently, CSG supplies propellant charges, expelling charges, and fuses from abroad, though plans call for increasing localization from the current 50% to 80%, including domestic fuse production.Initial production capacity is set at 100,000 rounds of 155mm ammunition and an additional 50,000 rounds of 105mm shells annually. "CSG does not own any factory or production technology in Ukraine. Everything is managed by our partner, to whom we transferred the license and provided the necessary know-how," explained Andriy Chirtek, CSG representative. "They already had the required production technologies and could start manufacturing relatively quickly."Vladyslav Belbas, CEO of Ukrainian Armor, emphasized the strategic importance of the partnership: "This collaboration is an important step toward strengthening Ukraine's defense capability and diversifying supply sources. Every unit of ammunition produced is vital for the country's defense."The CSG project joins other international efforts to establish ammunition production in Ukraine, including a licensed manufacturing agreement with Norway's Nammo and German defense contractor Rheinmetall's plans to build a turnkey ammunition factory in the country.
