Diplomat, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine, and advisor to the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies, Andrii Veselovskyi, shared his opinions on Espreso TV.“I’m not saying that Russian-American relations, connections, were cut off, no. But at this stage, Russia seriously lost by letting Trump move from persuasion to action. And when he took action, everyone praised him — in the U.S., in Europe, and in Ukraine. His decisions regarding Rosneft and Lukoil drew reactions worldwide, and in many countries, they began changing their approach to Russia. Another point — Trump developed a taste for bold actions: ‘I waved my hand, and see, the Kremlin towers wavered, so I can do more.’ And his response was classic. When he was briefed on the Burevestnik, Trump, with a sense of humor, said positively: ‘Listen, near your shores is our largest submarine. It has missiles; they don’t need to fly far, no need for those fantastic 14,000 kilometers around the world, etc. They are nearby. Two minutes, and they’re there,’” Veselovskyi said.He noted that the U.S. president felt he had acted correctly.“That is, he felt that he acted rightly, hit the mark, and that nothing would happen to him for it. On the contrary, it would affect those in the Kremlin. So far, everything is breaking apart well; if not for Pokrovsk, we might today have been able to breathe a little easier,” he added.
