Fighting is ongoing in the city of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has reported.

Quote: "I spoke with our military – special attention is focused on Pokrovsk and the neighbouring areas. That is where the occupier has concentrated its largest assault forces and where there is significant assault activity. Battles continue in the city as well: it is Pokrovsk that is their main objective.

And every result achieved by our forces in this sector is a result for all of Ukraine, for the entire defence of our state. I thank everyone who understands this. I thank everyone who is fighting for Ukraine!"

Background:

• On 26 October, Zelenskyy reported that the Russians had concentrated their main strike group against Pokrovsk, representing a significant number of forces.
• Ukrainska Pravda has learnt that at least 250 Russian troops are in Pokrovsk – they are engaging in firefights and killing Ukrainian soldiers, particularly drone operators, at their positions.
• Logistics into the city are fully controlled by Russian drones, forcing Ukrainian soldiers to walk 10-15 km to reach their positions. Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad are at risk of being encircled.
