Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, said this in an interview with Espreso TV.“The line of contact — the front line — is a dynamic phenomenon that changes quite often, but we haven’t seen significant movement recently in the Zaporizhzhia sector. Our forces are responsible for two of the three directions there — Orikhiv and Hulyaipole — and we haven’t observed any notable shifts lately,” he said.Voloshyn noted that Russian forces continue to attempt assault operations.“For instance, yesterday there was intense small-arms fighting on the Orikhiv front. The enemy keeps trying to approach the village of Stepnohirsk, moving along the former Kakhovka Reservoir near Kamyanske, Plavni, and Prymorske. They’re trying to advance from there toward Stepnohirsk, and also from the east near the village of Stepove,” he added.According to the colonel, Russian troops have opened another direction of assault attempts, seeking to seize Ukrainian positions and advance further.“However, they’re not making progress. Their current tactic is to inflict massive fire damage and completely destroy our positions and buildings in settlements — only then do their assault groups try to move in. But we destroy them; we know this tactic well. Near Stepnohirsk, the enemy is also actively using infiltration — covert attempts to sneak behind our lines. Yet our search-and-strike teams are effectively eliminating these groups,” Voloshyn said.He also reported that recently the enemy carried out a large-scale assault using armored vehicles, tanks, and full assault platoons.“Near Orikhiv, several enemy groups attacked simultaneously from multiple directions — Shcherbaky, Danylivka, Novoandriivka, and Mala Tokmachka. The Russians suffered heavy losses, failed to gain any ground, and we didn’t lose a single position. The situation remains tense. If we look at the statistics — drone attacks, artillery fire, and the number of shells used — these figures keep rising. Compared to September, in October the number of kamikaze drone strikes increased by 15–20%. The same applies to artillery shelling,” Voloshyn noted.
