Reuters reports, citing sources.Beijing imports about 1.4 million barrels of Russian crude per day by sea, most of it bought by independent refineries. An additional 900,000 barrels per day arrive through pipelines.According to traders, Lukoil and Rosneft now sell larger volumes of oil to China through intermediaries rather than via direct contracts."A sharp drop in oil demand from Russia’s two largest customers will put a strain on Moscow’s oil revenues and force the world’s top importers to seek alternative supplies and push up global prices. Chinese national oil companies PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC and Zhenhua Oil will refrain from dealing in seaborne Russian oil at least in the short-term due to concern over sanctions, " the article said.On Wednesday, October 22, the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on Russia’s two largest oil companies — Rosneft and Lukoil — citing Moscow’s unwillingness to end the war in Ukraine.
