Reuters reports.According to a senior White House official, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin currently have no plans for a meeting “in the immediate future.”An in-person meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is also not being planned.White House correspondent Garrett Haake reported that, according to a source, planning for the Trump–Putin summit in Budapest has been “put on hold.”“Initial call between Sec. Rubio & FM Lavrov was "productive," but POTUS believes both sides aren't ready enough to talk to justify moving forward right now,” Haake wrote on X.On October 16, U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and announced that they had agreed to meet in Budapest.Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was ready to take part in the meeting between Trump and Putin in any format that could lead to results.On October 20, Russia’s Foreign Ministry reported that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio had held a phone call with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.On October 21, CNN reported that the planned Trump–Putin summit in Budapest was in jeopardy after the meeting between Rubio and Lavrov was postponed.
