Germany announces €2 billion military aid package for Ukraine

NTV reported the news.During the Ramstein-format meeting on Wednesday, October 15, the minister said the package will include:air defense systems, including Patriot;radar systems;artillery systems with precision munitions;missiles;ammunition.Germany will also supply two additional IRIS-T air defense systems with guided missiles, portable anti-aircraft systems, anti-tank weapons, advanced communications equipment, and small arms."The current developments on the battlefield in Ukraine must strengthen our resolve to continue our support for Ukraine," the minister said.Earlier, the German government approved the purchase of 424 new armored combat vehicles worth nearly €7 billion.Since this summer, Germany has been preparing for a wave of multibillion-euro defense procurements. According to Reuters, they include 20 Eurofighter jets, up to 3,000 Boxer armored vehicles, and as many as 3,500 Patria infantry fighting vehicles.These acquisitions are part of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s plan to build Europe’s most powerful conventional army, reduce dependence on the United States, and strengthen Germany’s role in European security.
