German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul has called on US President Donald Trump to increase pressure on Russian leader Vladimir Putin to end Russia's war against Ukraine after his successful mediating in the war in the Gaza Strip.

Details : Speaking at a meeting with his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Georgiev in Sofia, Wadephul said that Trump "made a decisive contribution to the Gaza Strip agreement".

"And Germany urges him to continue his efforts to achieve talks between Russia and Ukraine," he added.

The minister stated that the German government places "great hopes on the American administration, as President Trump has indicated that he is interested in achieving peace agreements in various parts of the world".

Wadephul added that "every effort should be made to launch a new attempt [at a peace process] in Ukraine now, before large-scale hostilities break out there again".
