Details: The largest manufacturer of fuel additives supplied to Russia in 2024 was Perfect Traders & Moulders Private Ltd.
Russia's Kapron LLC, sanctioned by the US as one of Russia's key energy assets supporting its military needs, imported 1,885 tonnes of its products worth US$10.1 million.
Another 287 tonnes worth US$1.3 million were supplied to Kapron LLC by India's Thermax Limited, while over 70 tonnes were imported through AVK JSC.
Russian fighter jets require fuel additives to improve engine performance and extend service life.
Russia is unable to produce the necessary amount of additives domestically and, following Western sanctions, replaced its American suppliers with Indian manufacturers.
"This support is still crucial simply because, given the current Ukrainian attacks on the oil refineries, and some of these oil refineries make the additives themselves, Russia's production capacities are undermined. So they will rely on imports even more now," said Olena Yurchenko, director for analysis, investigations and research at the ESCU, in a comment to The Independent.
Background: Traders offering Russian oil have begun demanding payment from Indian state-owned refineries in Chinese yuan.
