Ukrainian MP and head of the Ukrainian delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Yehor Cherniev spoke about this on Espreso TV. “I can say that they are being used. Where exactly — that information is for the General Staff to reveal. And, believe me, what you’re seeing — that we’re striking 1,000-plus kilometres into Russia and inflicting significant damage — includes this type of missile. It isn’t the only missile the Ukrainian side uses at such ranges against Russia. We have many different missiles that fly various distances: Palyanytsia, Peklo, and Neptune. And now, I hope Sapsan will complete its trials — it’s a ballistic missile, unlike the previous ones, which have all been cruise missiles,” he said.Yehor Cherniev noted that Ukraine has different developments, each with its own specifics and intended purposes.“And there are other weapons — not just missiles but so-called missile-drones. Ukraine produces, I believe, several dozen of these deep-strike systems to date — those that deliver deep strikes into the Russian territory. Each of them has its own specifics: they’re designed to get through Russia’s air-defense systems and to bear some of the load. But believe me, we are developing, and more and more products are appearing — not only Flamingo but others that strike the territory of the Russian Federation,” the member of parliament said. What is known about Ukrainian Flamingo missileThe Flamingo long-range missile, developed by Ukraine’s Fire Point company, carries a 1,150-kilogram warhead and has a range exceeding 3,000 kilometers. The missile is designed to resist Russian electronic warfare systems and can reach speeds of up to 950 kilometers per hour.According to Fire Point CEO and technical director Iryna Terekh, less than nine months passed from the start of development to the missile’s first combat use. She said the Flamingo is already in serial production, with plans to produce around 200 units per month. On August 21, 2025, the Associated Press reported that current output stands at one missile per day, but production is expected to ramp up in the coming months. On August 20, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the Flamingo missile tests had been successful and that mass production would begin early next year. At the same time, he emphasized that the pace of the program directly depends on its funding. On August 31 it emerged that Ukrainian strategic cruise missiles Flamingo carried out their first public mass salvo against targets in territory controlled by Russian forces.
