He initially tracked and relayed the positions of Ukraine's defence forces to the Russians and also tried to determine the timing and routes of trains transporting fuel.
The SSU reported that once Scelnikov was deemed ready for a "more complex" assignment, the Russian secret services instructed him to murder Andrii Parubii and financed the planning of the crime.
To carry out the "order" from the Russian secret services, the perpetrator monitored Parubii's daily schedule and travel routes. Investigators have also established that he was planning to flee abroad after committing the murder.
Law enforcement officers prevented the suspect from leaving and apprehended him in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the location from which he intended to exit Ukraine unlawfully.
Quote from Lviv Oblast Prosecutor's Office: "Based on the new evidence obtained, the suspect's actions have been additionally classified under Article 111.2 (high treason committed under martial law) Article 112 (attempt on the life of a Member of the Parliament committed in connection with his state or public activities) and Article 263.1 (illegal handling of weapons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine."
