They are long outdated, as they were developed mostly during the Cold War with minor adjustments over the last two decades."Today, the world needs not only an answer to whether NATO exists only on paper or is capable of acting, but also a more obvious one: is this structure capable of changing in principle, rather than being an amorphous organism from the year 2000?"Hybrid threats have become so hybrid that NATO has slept through not only the use of 'Novichok' on its territory but also a whole range of threats—from information-psychological to political (which we now see in the already cliché, but vivid example of Hungary). Therefore, if NATO's nuclear doctrine is not changed in the coming months, this structure will simply collapse as one incapable of defending itself. Equally pressing is the question: are NATO countries allies ready to fight for one another, or is it a pseudo-organization that is not confident in its ability to respond forcefully and strongly? In this whole story, we can really only hope for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Because world history is turning other guarantors to dust right before our eyes.SourceAbout the author.
