Lieutenant Colonel Maksym Zhorin, the deputy commander of the 3rd Army Corps, stated this on Espreso TV."Regarding Kupiansk, the situation is quite difficult. It shouldn't be thought that this situation just developed yesterday or today; this tension has been building. The pressure on the outskirts has been present for a long time, this is not new. The fact that enemy sabotage groups sometimes break into the city is not new. The destruction of these enemy groups is a constant, daily task for our Defense Forces. It must be admitted that the situation is obviously worsening. To be frank, it is difficult to even speak of stabilization at this moment," commented the deputy commander of the 3rd Army Corps.According to him, regarding the city of Kupiansk and control on both sides of the Oskil River, one can probably say, quite cautiously, that the situation is currently worsening."The story is not very good in the Lyman area, where the Russian army is also trying to break through. However, at this moment, we have managed to stop the enemy there and somewhat stabilize the situation by deploying additional Ukrainian forces. In general, in my opinion, if you were to ask now: 'Where is a calm section?', the answer would be: 'Nowhere.' The only difference is in the dynamics, slightly in the behavior, and the tactical positioning, but the entire front line is currently quite difficult and hot," summarized Maksym Zhorin.Since the beginning of the day on September 18, 100 combat clashes have been recorded on the Russian-Ukrainian front, with the Russian troops being most active in the Pokrovsk direction. In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces attempted to break through Ukrainian defense twice in the direction of Kupiansk and Novoosinove.
