Ukrainians over 60 can now join the Armed Forces on contract

This was announced by MP Roman Kostenko.Kostenko, the initiator of the bill, emphasized that this is an important step to engage experienced and responsible citizens in the defense of the country, even if they are over 60.Law No. 13229 provides that during martial law, men and women who have reached the age of 60 may enter military service under contract, provided they are declared fit by a medical commission. Signing the contract is possible only with the written consent of the commander of the military unit. If the candidate is an officer, the General Staff of the Armed Forces or the governing body of the respective military formation must additionally approve the application.“Military units and territorial recruitment centers have already received the algorithm of actions for officials regarding the enlistment of citizens over 60 under contract. This means the procedure has officially been launched — now you can apply to military units and recruitment centers to complete the necessary documents,” the MP said.On July 25, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed into law mandatory officer training for medical and pharmaceutical students, adopted by parliament.
