Defense Express reported the information.According to the French Ministry of Defense’s annual report, which lists the number of weapons and military equipment in active service, the French Air Force had 23 Mirage 2000-5F fighters as of December 31, 2024. Last year’s report listed 28 units. Thus, as of early this year, when the reinforcement of Ukraine’s Air Force with Mirage 2000-5 fighters was announced, Ukraine could have received only up to five jets withdrawn from the French Air Force. At the same time, Paris has never disclosed the number of aircraft transferred to Ukraine, nor has it ever commented on media speculation regarding their quantity. The outlet notes that the five retired Mirage 2000-5F jets are the maximum that could have been transferred, though one may have stayed in France for training, leaving only four delivered. One French fighter was also lost on July 22, 2025, though the pilot ejected safely.“Despite all the discussions, there is still no information about concrete steps to transfer additional Mirage 2000-5 jets, either from France itself or from other countries that supposedly intended to form a 'Mirage 2000 coalition',” Defense Express concluded.
