Hungary's Minister for European Affairs János Bóka made the comment, Ukrinform reports.According to him, the U.S. “fully understands that the future of Russia’s war economy does not depend on Hungary and Slovakia, whose combined population is under 50 million.”“So I don’t think Hungary and Slovakia are the ones keeping Russia’s military economy afloat,” Bóka said, commenting on energy and sanctions talks with Washington. The Hungarian minister also said Budapest’s stance on the EU plan to achieve energy independence by gradually phasing out Russian fuel depends on alternative supply routes.“Without viable alternatives, there can be no meaningful discussion about reducing dependence on Russian fossil fuels, as this would create supply-security problems, and the Hungarian government will never agree to any decision that could endanger Hungary’s supply security,” Bóka added.Earlier, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that U.S. President Donald Trump allegedly had not asked the Hungarian authorities to stop importing Russian oil.
