The Kremlin-controlled head of the republic, Radiy Khabirov, confirmed the attack.“Today, the Bashneft enterprise came under a terrorist attack by fixed-wing drones. One UAV was detected and tracked. Security forces opened fire with large-caliber weapons, damaging the drone, which crashed on the refinery’s territory. No casualties were reported. The facility sustained minor damage, and a fire broke out, which is being extinguished,” Khabirov said.He later added that “another UAV was shot down” and that the extent of the damage from its crash was still being assessed. The strike reportedly damaged a technological trestle. The OSINT project CyberBoroshno suggested that an E-300 Enterprise drone was used.Possible consequences include:disruption of crude transport between storage tanks and processing units;failure of control and automation systems;forced shutdown of part of the facility to localize the accident.Coordinates of the strike site: 54.883371, 56.077389.
The refinery attack came just a day after Ukraine’s Security Service drones hit Russia’s largest oil terminal on the Baltic Sea in Primorsk on September 12, halting oil shipments.
