On September 11, the government of Sweden has presented its 20th military support package to Ukraine.Alongside a major additional order of Archer self-propelled howitzers for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the list of naval assets included a curious item that caused some confusion, Defense Express reports. The Swedish term “trossfärjor utrustade med granatkastare” was rendered in the government’s English release as “tross boats equipped with grenade launchers.”At first glance, the wording suggested ferries with cables and grenade launchers mounted on board. But in fact, it refers to Sweden’s class of Trossbåt — multipurpose landing craft actively used by the Swedish Navy. For example, the vessel HMS Loke is sometimes designated as a trossfärja.

In more heavily armed versions, they can even carry a container with a NEMO automatic mortar, effectively transforming them into full-scale combat units.
