Zelenskyy made the comments in an interview with ABC, recorded against the backdrop of an American-owned factory in Zakarpattia recently destroyed by a Russian attack.Asked how he felt seeing Putin step onto the red carpet in Alaska, Zelenskyy replied: “I don't know. I think that it was a bilateral summit, and it's a pity that Ukraine was not there.”He added: “I think that President Trump gave Putin what he wanted. He wanted very much to meet with President Trump, with the president of the United States, and I think that Putin got it. And it's a pity. Putin doesn't want to meet with me. But he wants very much to meet with the president of the United States to show everybody video and images that he's there.”The Alaska summit was followed by renewed Russian attacks on Ukraine. U.S. Special Representative Keith Kellogg said Russia’s strike on the Cabinet of Ministers building in Kyiv should not be viewed as a signal of Moscow’s willingness to end the war through diplomacy.Meanwhile, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that Washington is ready to work with Europe on tougher sanctions to push Russia’s economy toward collapse.
