Rheinmetall to supply Skyranger mobile anti-drone systems to Ukraine

Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger announced the plans in an interview with ZDF.According to him, Ukraine will begin receiving the systems by the end of 2025. The contract, valued at several hundred million euros, will be formally signed on Wednesday, September 10, during the Defense Industry Exhibition in London.The Skyranger system can be mounted on different platforms, including Leopard tanks. “Each system can cover an area of four by four kilometers, ensuring operations without the threat of UAVs. By this I mean that all drones will be destroyed,” Papperger said, stressing that such protection is urgently needed by Ukraine.Rheinmetall has recently expanded its production capacity to meet demand. The company opened Europe’s largest ammunition factory near Hanover and plans to build two new plants in Bulgaria to produce gunpowder, artillery shells, and drones.Ukraine's Ukroboronprom signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German defense giant Rheinmetall regarding the possibility of creating a joint venture for artillery shell production.Armin Papperger, CEO of German firm Rheinmetall, said the ammunition plant construction in Ukraine is slower than expected due to bureaucracy.
