Sources of Espreso reported that the victim was Andriy Parubiy, former Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. This was later confirmed by Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.“In Lviv region, authorities are searching for the gunman who killed former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy. All relevant services are engaged. The victim died before medics arrived. My sincere condolences to the family of the deceased,” he wrote.Zelenskyy’s reactionPresident of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to the killing.“Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko and Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko have just reported the first known details of the horrific murder in Lviv. Andriy Parubiy has been killed. My condolences to his family and friends. All necessary resources are engaged in the investigation and search for the killer,” he wrote on his official Telegram channel.First details of the killingAccording to journalist Vitaliy Hlahola, Parubiy was shot eight times.“My sources in Lviv police say the former Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy was shot eight times,” he wrote.The killing had earlier been reported by the National Police of Ukraine.Initially, police said that around noon today they had received a call to 102 about a shooting in Lviv’s Sykhiv district. Later, law enforcement clarified the incident occurred in Frankivskyi district. The victim died at the scene from his injuries. The deceased was a well-known public and political figure, born in 1971.Police stressed they are taking measures to identify the gunman and his whereabouts. Details of the case will be disclosed in accordance with criminal procedural law.Investigation and operational groups of the National Police’s Main Investigative Department and Lviv regional police, as well as the Security Service of Ukraine and other agencies, have been engaged in solving the case.
