Diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi expressed this opinion on Espreso TV."I am convinced that there will be no bilateral or trilateral meeting this year. You shouldn't even plan for one. All these meetings and the work around them should continue — they are important for other reasons. But here I fully agree with today's Wall Street Journal piece that Donald Trump lacks the ability to formulate an answer to this question. And so, as the Wall Street Journal concludes, we should prepare for something bigger. I understand perfectly well what the Wall Street Journal journalists meant by 'something bigger.' Because the Moscow Führer is hatching far more dangerous plans than simply occupying part of Ukraine. I will quote Joschka Fischer here, who says clearly: 'Putin is building an empire. A Russian empire without Ukraine is impossible.' And there you have the answer right on the surface," he said.Roman Bezsmertnyi noted that the use of the diplomatic process that is happening now is Russia "fooling Donald Trump" — nothing more, nothing less."If in the coming months Washington does not use force — meaning provide maximal assistance to Ukraine — and does not impose serious sanctions that are coordinated with the Europeans toward Russia, then there will be no possibility of any meeting even next year. It is already obvious that the Kremlin has decided to drag things out. The meeting in Alaska legitimized the Moscow Führer in international politics. Trump acted foolishly. And now he is reaping the consequences of that foolishness, of that meeting, of that legitimization of the Moscow Führer. This is a very dangerous thing. Under such circumstances, it is obvious that Putin will not agree to any meeting, neither trilateral nor bilateral. He will buy time, using that time to wage war against Ukraine and to prepare a war against NATO and Europe," the diplomat added.
