Suspilne reported the information, citing sources in the special services. On the night of August 24, Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) and Special Operations Forces drones struck production facilities at Russia’s Ust-Luga port in Leningrad region.Preliminary reports say the drones hit Novatek’s gas processing complex, Russia’s largest liquefied gas producer. Social media videos show a massive explosion and fire.Open-source analysts say the strike targeted the cryogenic gas condensate/fractionation unit, the “heart” of the plant.Sources noted this is the second successful SBU drone attack on Ust-Luga this year, the first occurring in early January.“The terminal handles Russia’s oil and gas trade via the ‘shadow fleet.’ SBU ‘drone sanctions’ are cutting the foreign currency flow Russia needs to fund its war,” a source familiar with the operation said.
