This was announced by European Council President Antonio Costa on his page on the social media platform X.Costa said the lights were switched on in the evening of August 23."Dear people of Ukraine, tonight, the Europa Building shines in your national colours — blue and yellow — as a symbol of our steadfast support for you," he said.He added that this way the European Council honors the courage, resilience, and European future of Ukraine on the eve of Independence Day.The President of the European Council ended his message with the words: "Slava Ukraini!"The building of Latvia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs was decorated with Ukrainian flags and lit in blue and yellow for Ukraine's National Flag Day and Independence Day.
